Chicken Yakitori ❤️

OMG !!

Sensational dish……the flavour is a simple process…..it’s all about the sauce making ❤️

Perfect dish to prepare ahead of time for the BBQ or a simple process of roasting in the oven.

Ingredients-

500g / 750g of chicken thighs or breast cut into small strips

8 spring onions cut into 1 pieces (leave the green tops to one side)

Oil for greasing

2 tbsp of Sesame seeds

Salt & pepper to season.

Sauce –

1/2 cup of light soy sauce

1/4 cup of water

1/4 cup of mirin rice wine

1/4 cup of rice wine

2 tbsp of brown sugar

2 tbsp of garlic & ginger paste

Green spring onion tops finely diced.

Method –

I cooked mine in the oven. Preheat the oven to 190c.

Add all of the ingredients for the sauce into a sauce pan.

Bring the pan to a simmer and reduce by half. This will create and nice thick flavoursome sauce that will make the kitchen smell Devine.

Take your chicken strips. Place on the skewers by doubling the strips over on themselves. Don’t pieces of chicken then a piece of spring onion and repeat the process.

Place them in the oven and roast for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, remove from the oven and brush them all over with the pre-made sauce.

Repeat this process every 10 minutes. The sauce will caramelise over the chicken. Ensure it’s fully coated.

Heat the sauce again.

When you’re ready to serve pour over the remaining sauce.

What a simple and wonderful dish. Perfect for a summers evening.

Thank you again for the inspiration Dan Toombs.
