Saag Paneer ❤️

Saag Panner

My go to dish. For many reasons.

Firstly, it’s a very very tasty dish, a wonderful combination of beautiful basic ingredients.

Secondly, a very healthy dish. Full of iron due to the spinach content and the beautiful paneer cheese.

Thirdly, such a economic dish. This would feed 3/4 adults for under £3. Yes £3!! Unreal, most expensive part is the paneer.

Such a rewarding dish.

It’s unbelievably simple to do so why not have a go??

Ingredients-

3 tbsp of rapeseed oil, 1 tsp of cumin seeds, 1 tsp of turmeric, 1 tsp of chilli powder, 2 tbsp of garlic paste, 1 tin of spinach (drained ), 1 packet of paneer cut into small cubes, a good pinch of salt, 2 tbsp of natural yogurt, 1 tsp of garam masala and that’s it 👍.

Method –

Heat your oil and when visibility hot toast the cumin seeds or a minute or so. Add the turmeric and chilli power creating a hot paste and mix well coating the pan. Add your garlic, cook through but becareful not to overcook the garlic as it will become bitter.

Add your drained spinach with a touch of fresh water. Bring to a simmer. Add your paneer and mix well but gently as not to break up the paneer. Simmer for 5 minutes.

Add the yogurt a little at a time. Finish with the salt and garam masala.
