Smoked mackerel pâté – a Christmas must 👍🏻

This my friends is a wonderful celebration of a fish that nowadays is underused!

The humble mackerel.

This simple recipe combines beautiful everyday ingredients to create a bobby dazzler of a dish which is perfect as a starter for Christmas Day or as a nibble in the evening when you’re stuffed due to the over indulging during the day.

The best bit….it takes less than 10 minutes to create so if time is against you….ideal!

Ingredients-

2 x supermarket packets of smoked mackerel- these are usually between 175g – 200g per packet which is ideal.

1 x 200g tube of cream cheese.

2 or 3 tbsp of horseradish.

The rind and juice of a lemon.

Handful of chopped parsley.

Nice pinch of salt and ground pepper.

Pinch of cayenne pepper to season at the end.

Method-

Remove the fish from the packaging (no shit Sherlock) then remove the skin.

Flake the fish into a mixing bowl.

Add in the cream cheese, lemon rind and juice along with the horseradish. Using a fork combine all the ingredients together.

Follow this with the chopped parsley and season with the salt and ground pepper. Mix well again.

Add a pinch of cayenne pepper then store in the fridge until required.

As simple as that !!!
